Parrot Analytics capabilities are focused on providing SVOD measurement services for TV series in almost every market in the world. This week, demand for Stranger Things grew by 20% in the USA, while demand for Luke Cage fell by 16%, resulting in Stranger Things becoming the most in-demand digital original series again. This increase may be due to recent news about the second season, which has started production. Stranger Things also reentered the top ten overall series and was the only digital original title on the list.
Our SVOD measurement demand data also shows that the older Stranger Things may be the top digital original series, but newer shows have premiered highly in terms of demand. The Crown, which was released on November 4th, has already become the third-most popular Netflix series, followed by last month’s Haters Back Off. The latest season of Black Mirror was produced and released by Netflix on October 21st and now appears among the top ten with about the same demand as Narcos. Marvel’s Jessica Jones dropped out of the list but Marvel’s Daredevil grew by 40%.
Overall, the top shows in the United States have remained unchanged. Eight out of the ten were on the list last week and the top six shows have not changed in ranking at all. The Walking Dead still has about 1.5 times more demand than any other title, though its spinoff Fear the Walking Dead has fallen out of the top ten. Demand for Westworld, the second-most popular show, grew by over 20% this week, indicating that it is still a bonafide hit for HBO. Showtime’s Shameless, which is currently airing its seventh season, entered the top ten for the first time this season.
