Best streaming services: the 2022 guide for TV and film

13 March, 2022

It sounds too good to be true. There is a way to save nearly £100 while freeing up hours of time. All you need to do is to think about how you watch television.

The average household spent more than £95 on streaming services last year, up by £51 from 2019. Yet how many shows did they actually watch? There are 126,431 hours of programmes available to the average British household, according to Enders Analysis. It would take 14 years to watch them all.

At the same time we are facing a cost of living crisis, with soaring utility bills and painful levels of inflation — and streamlining your streamers is one way to cut back. Netflix has just raised its prices for the second time in 18 months. Still, could you really live without it? Working out which is the best value streamer is tricky.
